FDL PD Announces Addition Of New Officers

The Fond du Lac Police Department today announced that it has hired four new officers to join the Department’s patrol division: Officers Elijah Fuller, Jack Malloy, Andrew Nuanes and Da Neng Vang. These officers are part of a larger cohort of new officers joining the department. In total, nine new officers joined the patrol division at the Fond du Lac Police Department in 2020 and 2021 – six of whom were hired in just the last eight months.

“We are honored to have these four individuals join our department,” said Police Chief Lamb. “They join five other new hires in providing critical public safety services to our City, and each bring a determination and a spirit of public service to the Fond du Lac Police Department. I am looking forward to the support they will bring to our team and to our community.”

The Fond du Lac Police Department looks forward to continuing hiring activities with several additional candidates who are now participating in the initial screening and testing processes.

Despite the City of Fond du Lac’s increasing demand for officer time due to increases in violent crime and drug-related incidents, the Police Department has not had additional budget to increase its staffing level for more than a decade.

This disparity, among other factors, led the Fond du Lac City Council to include a public safety referendum question on spring ballots for the April 6, 2021 election. The referendum will ask voters to decide whether or not to support an increase in the City’s annual tax levy, beginning in 2022, to cover the cost for six additional firefighter/paramedics, six additional police officers, and the equipment those staff members require. Additional information about the City of Fond du Lac’s 2021 Public Safety Referendum can be found at www.fdl.wi.gov/referendum
