Monday Morning Crash Takes Life Of One In Green Lake County

A Monday morning crash involving multiple vehicles resulted in numerous injuries and one fatality.

Green Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies received numerous 911 calls shortly after 7:40 a.m. reporting a crash involving possibly 3 vehicles. The crash occurred on Highway 73 at Highway H in the Town of Green Lake.

Deputies arrived on the scene and determine two vehicles were involved and three people in need of medical assistance.

Initial investigation showed a grey sedan traveling east on Highway H while a painting truck, used for painting highways, was traveling north on Highway 73. The sedan failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the painting truck in the intersection

The 74 year old female operator of the gray sedan was transported to Ripon Medical Center by Southern Green Lake County Ambulance Service and died as a result of the crash injuries. 

The paint truck rolled onto it’s side, and the 2 male occupants aged 24 and 30 of that vehicle were transported by ambulance.  Their injuries were non-life threatening. 

Markesan Fire Department, Markesan Police Department and Markesan Emergency Government assisted at the scene. Wisconsin State Patrol was requested to assist in the investigation.   STH 73 was closed for approximately 7 hours.  The highway was reopened shortly before 3pm.
