“Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” Campaign Kicks Off 8/18

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign” which kicks off today and runs through Labor Day.

Someone is injured or killed in an alcohol-related traffic crash every three hours in the state of Wisconsin. The statewide law enforcement partnership is aimed at keeping people safer on the roads by eliminating the risks of impaired driving. Last year in Wisconsin, there were 6.050 alcohol-related crashes including 167 deaths.

According to Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, alcohol contributed to more than a quarter of all traffic fatalities and alcohol was a contributing factor in 3 of the 9 fatal crashes in the county last year. Sheriff Waldschmidt say his department wants to make sure all travelers reach their destination safely, and the goal of his Deputies is not simply to make arrests, but to keep the roads as safe as possible.
