Green Bay School Board Votes To Require Masks For All Starting Monday, 8/23

The Green Bay School Board met in special Wednesday afternoon, and voted unanimously to require masks for all students, staff, teachers and contractors.

The new mask mandate goes into effect Monday, August 23. Students will be required to wear a mask even if they’ve already been vaccinated. The board had previously voted to require masks for students ages 3-K through the sixth grade.

Board members pointed to guidance from the CDC as well as Wisconsin DHS and DPI as key contributors in amending their original decision. Face coverings will be required inside all district buildings and premises, as well as transportation when provided by the district. The new amendment also provides for a special board meeting to be called automatically to review the mask policy when the one week COVID-19 cases in the county are below 100 total cases per 100,000 people.
