Waupun Woman Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash On Hwy. 151

A two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 151 south Tuesday evening has taken the life of a Waupun woman.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified just after 7:20 p.m. Tuesday (3/8/2022) of a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 151 near Oak Center Rd. in the Town of Waupun.

Initial investigation shows that a south bound vehicle driven by 40-year old Sarah Lemmennes of Waupun, rear ended another vehicle also headed south. The vehicle operated by Lemmennes entered the median, rolling several times, and ejected her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

18-year old Edgar Ruiz of Beaver Dam, was operating the vehicle that was rear ended, and lost control and slid into the ditch. Ruiz and two passengers, Yarelie Banderas, 18 year old and Oscar Ruiz, 20 years old, also from Beaver Dam, were transported to Waupun Memorial Hospital and were treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupun Police Department, the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Fond du Lac County Drone Team and the Fond du Lac County Crash Reconstruction Team.
