Active Shooter Hoaxes Being Reported Throughout The State Included Horace Mann In North Fond du Lac

The Wisconsin State Patrol as well as multiple police departments throughout the state are reporting a rash of “spoof” active shooter calls being reported at high schools around the state today, Thursday, October 20, 2022.

KFIZ has confirmed Counties affected by the calls so far are Racine, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Manitowoc, Winnebago, Fond du Lac and Brown County, but there may be others.

As of 10:30 AM, non of the reports has proven to be true.

According to an article from NPR earlier this month, other states that went through similar instances are reporting that the calls seem to be originating from Africa but the FBI has not confirmed this.

This is a statement from the FBI on the matter…

“The FBI is aware of the numerous swatting incidents wherein a report of an active shooter at a school is made. The FBI takes swatting very seriously because it puts innocent people at risk. While we have no information to indicate a specific and credible threat, we will continue to work with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to gather, share, and act upon threat information as it comes to our attention. We urge the public to remain vigilant, and report any and all suspicious activity and/or individuals to law enforcement immediately.”“The FBI is aware of the numerous swatting incidents wherein a report of an active shooter at a school is made.
