Active weather pattern in place for weekend

The pleasant weather we had Thursday, March 27, 2025, will be the last for awhile as we head into an active weather pattern through the beginning of next week. Under partly to mostly sunny skies Thursday, we reached a high of 59 degrees.

Overnight we saw lows drop to 42 degrees but those temperatures will rebound fast Friday as winds turn to coming from the south. This switch in winds is due to an approaching low pressure storm system that is pushing a warm front north out in front of it. Showers and a couple thunderstorms formed on this front, and those showers will be rolling through the area Friday morning. No severe weather is expected with this area of rain.

As the warm front moves north of the area, the moisture that pooled on the front and thus caused the morning rain will be north of the area as well, so we should dry out for the afternoon and first half of Friday night, though moisture will start building back up with these southerly winds, which will aid in more rain toward Saturday morning into the weekend as this low pressure approaches.

As the warm front moves over, we should see temperatures rise up into the mid 60s Friday. This will be about 20 degrees above normal, so enjoy it while it’s here because it wont be hanging around for long.

The low pressure system currently in the Dakotas Friday morning, will move east crossing central Wisconsin late Friday night into Saturday morning.

Precipitation chances increase along the cold front which is going to move through with the best chances of rain expected to hold off until early Saturday morning. As the cold front begins to move across the state, its expected to stall out Saturday afternoon which keeps our rain potential and the chance for a few thunderstorms high heading into Saturday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures could very depending on where the frontal boundary lines up with much cooler temperature to the north and much warmer to the south.

Then yet another area of low pressure will move into the area Sunday and Monday prolonging the rain and eventually some snow as another cold front moves through on the backside of the second low pressure. The good news is that with the warm temperatures and rainfall, the ground will be fairly warm which should keep any accumulations low.

Then a high pressure system moves in late Monday into Tuesday giving us a break from the active pattern.
