Advisory Park Board Takes Second Pavilion And Restaurant Out Of Lakeside Park Master Plan

The Advisory Park Board is removing plans for a second pavilion and restaurant in the Lakeside Park Master Plan. Fond du Lac City Councilwoman Catherine Block sits on the board. She says they would rather see a bigger and better pavilion built on the site of the current one. She says the pavilion is old and is getting to the point where it will need maintenance on both the inside and the outside. She says it is usable, but not very pretty. The board is asking Excel Engineering to design a pavilion that would accommodate up to 300 people with the possibility of a rooftop patio or deck. She says that would be good for weddings and other events people would rent out the pavilion for. She says they haven’t made any official recommendations to the City Council yet. She says Excell will incorporate their suggestions into the plan and next month the board will decide whether to recommend what Excel comes up with to the Council.
