Air Quality Alert issued for Fond du Lac area

North winds aloft and at the surface will usher in smokey air coming from Canadian wildfires today, Friday, May 30, 2025. Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for all of Wisconsin and most of the UP of Michigan.

They say Air quality will degrade from north to south today as Canadian wildfire smoke pushes in ahead of a cold front. While most of us will be fine, the advisory is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups such as children, seniors, pregnant women, those with asthma or other respiratory conditions, and people with heart conditions.

The weather service says to make outdoor activities shorter and less intense, taking more breaks.

The advisory will be in place until 6 AM Saturday morning but may be extended if conditions persist.
