Alzheimer’s Association invites Fond du Lac County to join 2025 walk to end Alzheimer’s on October 4th

The Alzheimer’s Association invites Fond du Lac County residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 4, 2025, at Fond du Lac High School, 801 Campus Drive, Fond du Lac.

The event opens at 8:30 a.m., with the Opening Ceremony at 9:40 a.m., immediately followed by the Walk at 10:00 a.m.

The Alzheimer’s Association extends heartfelt thanks to Walk Chairs Dan Weidert, retired wildlife biologist and American Red Cross volunteer; Pam Sippel, Director of Operations at the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac; Penny Collin, kindergarten teacher with the Fond du Lac School District; and Beth Atkinson Schultz, social worker. Their leadership, compassion, and dedication have made a meaningful
impact on our Walk and the community.

“Every step we take at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s carries the weight of love, memory, and hope. Each year, the reunion of hearts reminds us we’re never alone in this fight. When we gather for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the emotions run deep – joy in remembering, strength in unity, and resolve in our shared mission to end this disease,” said Penny Collin.

The walk features the inspiring Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry colorful flowers, each representing a personal connection to the disease.

More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care for those affected. In
Wisconsin, more than 110,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, and tens of thousands of caregivers are supporting them every day. In Fond du Lac County alone, over 2,671 residents age 65 and older are living with dementia.

Exciting progress in both treatments and early detection has brought new hope to millions of families.

Breakthroughs in medical science, fueled by decades of research, advocacy, and community support, are helping people receive answers sooner and benefit from new ways to slow the progression of the disease. These advances strengthen our determination to keep moving forward toward a world without dementia.

This year, the Alzheimer’s Association proudly welcomes Bill Schroeder, former Milwaukee Brewers player and longtime television color commentator, as the Honorary Statewide Chair for all 2025 Walk to
End Alzheimer’s events in Wisconsin.
