Arrest made in abuse of 3-month-old that fractured child’s arm

Fond du Lac Police have made an arrest in a child abuse case that occurred earlier this month.

According to police, On October 13, 2025, detectives from the City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee regarding a 3-month-old female infant who had sustained a fractured arm.

The injury was first discovered after the child was picked up from Lily Pad Day Care in Fond du Lac, and evaluated at a Fond du Lac hospital before being referred to Children’s Hospital for specialized care.

Following a thorough investigation, done in coordination with the Fond du Lac County Department of Human Services Child Protective Services and Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Detectives arrested 32-year-old Ashley Karschnick, who was a caretaker at Lily Pad Day Care, for her suspected involvement in causing the injury.

Officers utilized surveillance footage as well as conducted multiple interviews before making the arrest.
