Arson suspect quickly captured after setting Lomira house on fire
A 21-year-old Lomira man was taken into custody Thursday, January 23, 2025, on suspicion of arson after allegedly starting his own residence on fire.
At 3:40 pm Thursday, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received numerous 911 calls about a two story home on fire at 903 Main Street in Lomira. Witnesses that observed the fire told dispatchers they saw a suspicious man at the house just prior to the fire being reported. One stated the man left with a gas can.
As fire department members and Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they determined no one was in the house, but they did rescue two dogs from the building.
While the fire was being tended to by fire fighters, law enforcement quickly looked into the witness reports of the man and a suspect was quickly named.
Police didn’t say where or how the man was captured, but a press release put out a couple hours later said the man was in custody.
Assisting Lomira at the scene were multiple departments from Dodge, Fond du Lac and Washington County.
