Assistant Police Chief Steve Klien To Retire

Fond du Lac Police Department Assistant Chief Steve Klien has announced his plans to retire from the police department on March 31.

Klein began his career with the Fond du Lac Police Department in 1993 as a patrol officer. Through the course of his career he was promoted up through the department, holding the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief of Police.

Klein played a major part in helping build the department’s K-9 program in the mid-1990s. A division he stayed close to through the rest of his time at the department.

On Wednesday, March 22, the Fond du Lac City Council will officially recognize Klein with a Proclamation for his service to the City and a Key to the City at their regularly scheduled meeting, and the Fond du Lac Police Department will be holding a Retirement Open House and Flag Presentation Ceremony with Klien’s last radio call on Friday, March 31, at 11:00 AM at the police department.
