Attempted 1st Degree Homicide charges stem from Ripon fight
Two Ripon men are in jail after a fight Early Saturday morning resulted in a stab wound and a significant head injury.
At about 4:42 am, the City of Ripon Police Department, along with Ripon Guardian Ambulance, were dispatched to an address in the 700 block of W. Thorne St. for a report of a fight between two men occurring at that location. The caller stated one of the men was armed with a crowbar and that there was blood everywhere.
Officers were able to gain control and separate the two men but not before one of the men sustained a stab wound to his abdomen and head injury with significant bleeding from the crowbar. Both men were transported to Ripon Community Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Over the course of the investigation, officers learned that a 45-year-old man came to the residence and got into a fight with the 35 year old victim. During the altercation, the 35-year-old man was stabbed once with a knife and also struck in the head several times.
The 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody and transported to Fond du Lac County Jail. Charges including, attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, are being forwarded to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office. The 35 year old was also taken into custody for two outstanding warrants.
