Authorities Investigate Fire at Calumet Town Dump

Authorities are investigating a fire that happened at the Calumet Town Dump.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Calumet Fire Department and first responders were called to the dump on Schoenborn Road around 9:20 Saturday night for the report of a fire.

A news release says the fire was reported by someone who lives nearby and saw a large amount of smoke coming from a partially-enclosed structure that houses a dumpster. Officials say the structure is not considered to be a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Also assisting at the scene were fire departments from St. Anna, New Holstein and Mount Calvary Fire and Ambulance, along with RIT Team 3.
