Barn Property Set To Host Fond du Lac County Breakfast On The Farm Next Weekend Destroyed By Fire
A Fond du Lac County barn along with several attached buildings was destroyed by fire Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Just before 10 AM, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call of a fire in the barn located at W2133 Randellen Lane, about 2 miles south of Dotyville.
Mt. Calvary and Eden Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, the barn was fully engulfed in flames.
The call was upgraded to a MABAS call which brought in mutual aid from 16 other fire departments from Fond du Lac, Calumet and Sheboygan Counties.
According to a press release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was discovered by one of the property owners as they were doing work around the
outside of the property.
Approximately 100 cows that were in one of the buildings were able to be safely removed by one of the owners.
Other portions of the barns contained hay, wood shavings, and other miscellaneous tools. In total, there was four separate barns and an office building that were all connected to one another that had all started on fire.
Mt. Calvary responded back to the scene last night just before 9:30 for a report that an area of the scene flared up again.
The structure is considered a complete loss.
The fire is believed to be caused by an electrical issue and remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
The location of the barn was set to host Fond du Lac County’s 2023 Breakfast On The Farm. It’s unknown at this time if the event will take place at a different location or cancelled.
