Baseball Umpire Killed In Crash Heading To Wisconsin Game

A mid day crash Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Waushara County has claimed the life of one person and injured 2 others.
Just before noon, Emergency crews were dispatched to a one vehicle rollover crash on the southbound side of I-39 in west central Waushara County.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that one person was ejected from the vehicle. EMS on the scene attempted life saving measures, but the 29-year-old Alabama man was
pronounced dead at the scene. 2 other individuals in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. They were listed as a 31-year-old man
from Bellflower, CA, and a 21-year-old man from Kingwood, TX.
Part of the interstate was closed while Wisconsin State Patrol investigated the crash.
The men, all baseball umpires for the Northwoods Baseball League, were on their way to Madison to officiate the Madison Mallards game against the Wausau Woodchucks.
Its unknown at this time what caused the men’s vehicle to leave the road.
The game Sunday was postponed and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The league will honor the mans memory with a moment of silence before the game.
