Battle On Bago sees over 7000 entries this year

The annual ice fishing tournament Battle On Bago took place this weekend.

The event is Wisconsin’s largest ice-fishing tournament and is considered one of the biggest in the country, taking place on Lake Winnebago, and the up river lakes of Butte Des Morts, Winneconne, and Poygan.

This was the 18th year of the tournament which was first held in 2008. The tournament also acts as a charity with all proceeds going towards local youth fishing programs and other conservation efforts on the Lake Winnebago system. To date the tournament has generated $2.6 million for these programs.

Over 7000 fisherman were registered and caught fish this year with hundreds of prizes being awarded on a lottery system and not the size of the fish caught.

The tournament was cancelled last year doe to warm weather and poor ice conditions
