Below normal temperatures look to persist in area while major winter storm passes to our south
Below normal temperatures have overspread the area and look to stay for at least the next week.
A high pressure system moving our way out of Canada is bringing with it some bitter cold temperatures to the area. Wind chill values of -9 were recorded at the Fond du Lac County Airport overnight Saturday, January 4, 2025, and highs are forecasted to stay in the teens Saturday and Sunday with highs only in the low 20s to start next week before dropping back into the teens mid week.
If you are headed to the Packer game Sunday at Lambeau Field, temperatures will be around 20 degrees with windchills around 10 degrees.
The high pressure keeping us dry and cold is also partly responsible for keeping a crippling winter storm south of our area. Areas in central and southern Illinois are under a winter storm warning with the expectations of over a foot of snow through tomorrow with extreme southern Illinois seeing a potential ice storm with up to 3/4 of an inch of ice possible.
Our next chance of any snow doesn’t come until late next week when a light area of snowfall could brush the area early next weekend
