Billion dollar jackpot won in Powerball lottery drawing

Someone in Illinois is holding a Powerball ticket worth an estimated $1.04 billion.

The winning ticket was sold for Wednesday night’s drawing in Quincy, Illinois.

The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with the red Powerball number being 9.

The jackpot winner can choose between an estimated $1.04 billion annuity, paid out over 30 payments, or a lump-sum cash option of about 450 million dollars, after taxes.

The jackpot win ends a 44-drawing stretch without a Powerball grand-prize winner.

The billion-dollar prize ranks as the eighth-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

There were also several other big winners. One ticket sold in Massachusetts won two million dollars with the Power Play, while tickets sold in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina each won one million dollars.
