Bond Issue Approved For Alliance Laundry Loan

By a unanimous vote the Fond du Lac County Board approved the bond issue for the $6 million loan the County is making to Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon. The company will use the money for a $46 million expansion project that is expected to create 150 new jobs. Bond consultant Jim Miller told supervisors they were able to get a 3.1 percent interest rate, which was in the neighborhood of what they were hoping to get. The board also approved a contract with the union for the Sheriff’s Department’s jail division, which affects 68 full and regular part time employees. County Human Resources Director Michael Marx told supervisors contracts have taken longer to settle this year because of the current litigation surrounding ACT 10, which had delayed bargaining efforts. The board also approved a half percent wage increase for the Communications Department dispatchers that is retroactive to January 6th. Fees for the Fond du Lac County subdivision ordinance were also set. That will include a $20 increase in the fee for certified survey map reviews from $80 to $100. Five other fees remained unchanged.
