Breaking Bread Vote Affected By Missing Supervisors
Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says it is unfortunate the County Board last week failed to approve funding for the second printing of the Breaking Bread in the Holyland travel guide. He says the Holyland extends across portions of Calumet and Fond du Lac Counties, but Fond du Lac County benefits most from hotel room stays for people visiting the Holyland. He says the second printing of the travel guide spotlighting the history and information about the churches and supper clubs in the Holyland is already out there. The two counties were to split the $5,000 cost of the printing with Calumet County already approving their share. Buechel says the travel guide is a way to celebrate the German ancestry unique to the Holyland. Buechel says two supervisors missed last week’s meeting and that would have been enough to swing the vote in favor of the travel guide expense.
