Fond du Lac Police respond to shooting… 22-year-old man dead

Shortly after 4:30 Thursday morning, law enforcement and City of Fond du Lac ambulance were dispatched to the Elms Mobile Home Park in the 800 block of south Main Street in Fond du Lac for a reported shooting.

Initial reports was that the shooting happened as a result of an attack.

A medical helicopter was initially requested but was cancelled soon after the ambulance arrived on scene.

Shortly after 5 a.m., City of Fond du Lac Police issued this statement on their Facebook page…

“There is an active police incident in the 800 block of South Main Street. This incident is isolated and does not involve the neighboring areas. We are asking the public to avoid this area to allow emergency responders and Officers the space to manage the incident. Updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.”

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 4:33 a.m., the City of Fond du Lac Police Department and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to the 800 block of South Main Street following a report that a male had been shot.

Upon arrival, Fond du Lac Police Officers, assisted by Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, located three individuals in a parking area adjacent to South Main Street. A 22-year-old Fond du Lac man was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 26-year-old Fond du Lac man was identified as a person of interest in the investigation. Officers and Deputies secured the scene without further incident while FDLPD Detectives responded to conduct a comprehensive investigation. A 21-year-old Fond du Lac woman and the 26-year-old male have both been cooperative with Officers and Detectives.

Based on the information gathered to this point, this was an isolated incident involving individuals who were known to one another. There is no information to indicate an ongoing threat to the community.

This investigation remains active, and no additional information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
