I-41 Southbound Closed In Fond du Lac County Due To Fatal Crash

9 AM UPDATE: 41 southbound is now open.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of Wisconsin State Patrol are working the scene of a jackknifed semi on I-41 south of County Highway N.

Shortly after 4 AM the semi lost control and jackknifed and a car that was following the semi was unable to stop and drove under it.

Reports from the scene are that the passenger of the vehicle is injured and the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

Fire fighters from Eldorado Fire Department worked at freeing the driver but the person died at the scene.

41 southbound was initially closed at N while officials worked the scene, but has since changed to being closed at 26 in Winnebago County.

The detour is Highway 26 south to 23 back east to 41.
