Building Commission Votes to Reject UW Request Amid Lack of Transparency
Madison– Today, the State Building Commission denied a motion to allow $70 million in underspent funds to be used for a series of other projects, including the UW-Madison engineering building.
“The University of Wisconsin System is an important economic driver of our state, but it is plagued by a lack of accountability and transparency. Critical questions from legislative members of the commission remain unanswered. The UW’s unwillingness, or inability, to answer questions has now imperiled the approval of the UW-Madison engineering building, among other projects. The engineering building has been a long-term priority for Senate Republicans. Hopefully, UW officials will move forward with transparency and candor and the project can be approved at a later date.”
Leader LeMahieu penned a letter to University of Wisconsin System President Rothman. The letter is available here.
