Camp Byron memories focus of upcoming meeting and book

The Byron Historical Society will be holding an event dedicated to memories of Camp Byron on on Monday, July 21, 2025.

Members and visitors are invited to share their stories and souvenirs from their time at the historic camp site for inclusion in an upcoming book on Camp Byron to be published by the Byron Historical Society.

Camp Byron was founded in 1848 as a Methodist Church Camp and for 161 years, the camp drew thousands of visitors from the U.S. and other parts of the world each year for their annual camp meeting and other events. Until its sale in 2009, Camp Byron was known as the country’s oldest active Methodist Church Camp in the U.S.

The July 21st program is open to the public and will follow a brief business meeting beginning at 7 pm at the Byron Town Hall, at N3097 Highway 175 in Byron.
