Campbellsport Woman Dies In Hwy. 45 Rollover

Speed appears to be the main cause behind a fatal Friday evening rollover accident in Fond du Lac County.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified Friday evening (1/14/2022) just before 6:20 p.m. of a single vehicle rollover crash on STH 45 near Mitchell Rd, in the Township of Osceola.

Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Eden Fire Department/First Responders and Campbellsport Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.  

Upon arrival, first responders located a vehicle with the driver and lone occupant trapped inside of it. Eden Fire Department was able to remove the driver, 65-year-old Margaret Weaver of Campbellsport, and life-saving efforts were initiated. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was pronounced dead at the scene.   

Early investigation determined the vehicle Weaver was operating was heading south on STH 45 as it entered a curve south of Mitchell Rd. Weaver failed to negotiate the curve, resulting in the vehicle entering the west ditch where it overturned. The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.  

Assisting at the scene was City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Paramedics and LifeNet Helicopter. The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with traffic control. STH 45 was closed between CTH W and CTH F for approximately 3 hours.
