Campbellsport woman injured in rollover crash – charged with operating while intoxicated

A 39-year-old Campbellsport woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and charged with drunk driving yesterday. Both are the result of a single vehicle crash she was involved in.

At 8:48 PM the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle rollover crash, near the intersection of County Highway W and County Highway BB, southwest of the village of Campbellsport. Initial reports were that a passenger car was on its side in the roadway.

A first responder first on the scene advised there was a person trapped in the vehicle that was in and out of consciousness. Campbellsport Fire and Rescue were already responding, and Flight For Life and a City of Fond du Lac Ambulance was also requested to the scene.

Once extricated from the vehicle, the woman was flown to Froedtert Hospital with serious injuries.

Investigation into the crash shows the vehicle was traveling north on County Highway BB and as they approached County Highway W, the driver left the the roadway, traveling into the ditch and striking a culvert. The vehicle became airborne and rolled several times, coming to rest in the roadway.

Failure to maintain control and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated – 1st offense.

County Highway W between Spring Drive and Rolling Drive was shut down for approximately 2 hours while crews worked the scene.
