Child Passenger Safety Week is this week – is your child’s safety seat installed correctly?

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is partnering with local communities to hold Child Passenger Safety Week this week.

In passenger cars, car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers. The administration estimates that since 1975, child restraints have saved the lives of over 11,000 children under the age of five.

A Study found that while most parents and caregivers believe they know how to properly install their car seats, about half have installed their child’s car seat incorrectly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has a website where you can enter parameters to find the best car seat for your child, watch a video for proper installation and find a place to go in your area to have your seat inspected for proper installment.
