City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue respond to fire at Mercury Marine

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 5:37 p.m. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a report of a paint oven on fire at Mercury Marine Plant 15 at 560 W. Pioneer Road.

Upon arrival, Fire personnel found smoke showing from the roof vent of the building. Evacuation procedures were in process.

Firefighters were met by Mercury staff that directed fire crews to the location of the fire.  Procedures were followed for shutting down the power supply. 

Approximately 500 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire.  FDL fire personnel worked with Mercury maintenance with overhaul operations and gaining access to the inside of the vent.  The damage was contained to the oven and venting.

The fire cause is under investigation by Fond du Lac Fire Rescue personnel.
