City of Fond du Lac Police Department help Suicidal Subject

On Saturday, June 8, 2024 at approximately 3:07 p.m., the City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded to the 100 block of Southlake Lane for a male who wanted to die by suicide and was armed with a shotgun.

Fond du Lac Police Department Officers responded to the area with the Bearcat armored rescue vehicle given the information that the male was armed with a firearm and started setting up a perimeter in the immediate area. The 9-1-1 call was made by a family member who ultimately was able to safely exit the residence through the garage and met with Fond du Lac Police Department Officers.

A Fond du Lac Police Department Officer was able to establish a connection that led to the male who was previously armed with a shotgun exit the residence with no weapon.  The male was taken into protective custody without incident.

The 72-year-old Fond du Lac male was evaluated on scene by the City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue and was transported to the hospital. He was placed on an emergency detention. He is not facing any criminal charges and is now receiving the assistance he needs.
