City Of Fond du Lac Police Talk Woman Out Of Harming Herself In Lakeside Park

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded late last night to Lakeside Park for a report of a woman armed with a knife threatening to kill herself.

Officers arrived on scene and located the 46-year-old Fond du Lac resident on a bridge in the park saying she looked visually distraught.

Officers attempted to engage the female in conversation working to build a rapport and let her know there was hope and there were resources to help her.

During those efforts, the woman displayed a knife over her head that had been concealed under a towel.

The female repeatedly told Officers to kill her and began taking steps towards the Officers.

Officers deployed a less lethal round but it wasn’t effective in disarming her.

With the woman still armed, Officers continued to plea with her to drop the knife. Eventually the woman dropped the knife and she was taken into protective custody
without further incident. The City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue transported her to SSM Health/ St. Agnes Hospital and placed her on an emergency detention.
