City of Fond du Lac – Weekly Construction Update

The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary. The Weekly Construction Updates and Construction Map are posted on the City’s Website at www.fdl.wi.gov.

All anticipated construction activities are weather dependent.

Pioneer Road – Martin Avenue to CTH V

Schedule: April 24 through September 28, 2024

Description: The WI Dept of Transportation, along with Fond du Lac County, and the City of Fond du Lac awarded this project to Vinton Construction. Construction includes common excavation, sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, concrete sidewalk and curb & gutter, an asphalt pedestrian path and roadway, traffic signals & roadway lighting.

August 26 to August 30: The contractor will be on site to backfill behind the curb & gutter that was placed the week prior. Concrete pavement will be poured on Martin Ave and concrete sidewalk will also be formed poured at the end of the week and into the week after. The electrical loop detectors will be installed where necessary.

Traffic Impacts: Pioneer Road (CTH VV) is closed to through traffic for the duration of the project.

US 45 from Scott Street in the village of North Fond du Lac to the North County Line in the town of Friendship, Fond du Lac County

Schedule: August 26th to Early November

Description of work: The work under this contract shall consist of asphalt paving, beam guard replacement, culvert replacement, pavement marking, and all incidental items necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans and included in the proposal and contract.

August 26 to August 30: Crews will be working on replacing cross culverts along US 45 and grading at various beam guard locations.

Traffic impacts: US 45 is open to traffic. Work will be conducted under lane closures with flagging operations.

2024 Mill & Overlay Program

Schedule: August 26 through Mid-September

Description: The project includes manhole adjustments, spot curb and gutter replacement, milling pavement, and overlay of asphalt.

Project Locations:

· West Cotton Street from Brooke Street, west to Dead End

· West McWilliams Street from Brooke Street, west to Dead End

· Wisconsin American Drive from Johnson Street, south to Aurora Urgent Care Entrance

o Resurfacing will occur in two phases to allow for continued traffic to businesses/property owners located on Wisconsin American Drive and Lynn Avenue

· Candy Lane from Eighth Street to Fifth Street – Weather Depending

o Paving – Week of August 26

· Fifth Street from Woodward Street, west to entrance of Roberts Elementary School

o Paving – Week of August 26

2024 Seal Coating Program

Schedule: August 26 through August 30

Description of work: The work will include placing a mixture of liquid asphalt and fine aggregate over the entire street. The application fills small cracks, cover minor road deterioration, and extend the life of the roadway.

August 26 to August 30: The contractor will begin seal coating and continue through the week, weather pending. Streets not completed this week will be completed the following week.

Traffic impacts: The streets will be closed to local traffic for periods of time. Parking will not be allowed on the street during the times of street cleaning and micro surfacing. Temporary “No Parking Signs” will be placed along the street.

Schedule: April 15 through October

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: No work anticipated.

Traffic Impacts: Rees Street and Marquette Street are closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Ledgeview Avenue – Amory Street to N. Park Avenue

Schedule: May 2024 through August

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Concrete contractor will begin slipping curb and gutter and pouring sidewalk and driveway aprons.

Traffic Impacts: Ledgeview Avenue will be closed to vehicle and resident foot traffic from Amory Street to N. Park Avenue until August 2024. Residents, business owners, and customers should find an alternate route. Parking is not permitted in the project area as the road is closed.

W. 9th Street – Bridge to Linden Street

Schedule: June 2024 through September

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Concrete contractor might begin concrete curb and pavement later in the week.

Traffic Impacts: W. 9th Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move

any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

S Military Road – Superior Street to Hickory Street

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Sanitary main installation will continue.

Traffic Impacts: S Military Road is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours. There will be a signed detour route in place.

Bragg Street – Bell Street to Warner Street

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Road excavation contractor will begin excavating to subgrade and placing aggregate.

Traffic Impacts: Bragg Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Henning Street – Military Rd to Dead End

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Contractor will finish storm main and lateral installation. Road excavation contractor will begin excavating to subgrade and placing aggregate.

Traffic Impacts: Henning Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Franklin Street – N. Hickory Street to Henry Street

Schedule: August 2024 through November

Description: The project includes water main and lateral reconnections, roadway, and restoration/landscaping.

August 26 to August 30: Contractor will connect existing water laterals to the proposed water main.

Traffic Impacts: Franklin Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
