City of Ripon Elects Grant as new Mayor; Nickel Re-Elected in Waupun

There were just two mayoral races on the ballot for last Tuesday’s
election – and one area community will have a new leader, while the incumbent
keeps their job in another.

Voters in the City of Ripon elected Theodore Grant to be
the city’s next Mayor. Grant received just over 1,000 votes in last Tuesday’s
election to 544 for his challenger, Douglas Iverson. Grant is a businessman in
Ripon, while Iverson was a city alderman. Iverson chose not to run for another term
on the Common Council to focus on his campaign.

In the City of Waupun, incumbent mayor Julie Nickel won re-election over her challenger Jay Graff. Nickel received 824 votes in Fond du Lac County and 930 in Dodge County for a total of 1,754 votes. Graff received 117 votes in Fond du Lac County and 206 in Dodge County for a total of 323 votes. Nickel has been Mayor since 2016.
