Cold Weather Advisory in effect for most of Wisconsin starting Saturday night

A cold weather advisory will go into effect for all of Wisconsin starting overnight Saturday, January 18, 2025, and going through Monday morning at 9 AM, and an extreme cold warning will go into effect for the northern most counties of Wisconsin starting this evening and extending through Tuesday at noon.

A low pressure passing to our north has dropped a strong cold front that moved over Wisconsin overnight turning winds from the northwest. This is bringing in artic air after Friday’s much above normal temperatures.

With no other weather systems approaching, these winds will continue from the northwest, ushering in colder air through the period, with lows bottoming out at a forecasted -12 Monday night with windchill values dropping to -30 by Monday night.

The NWS says exposed skin in these conditions could become frost bit in less than 30 minutes and hats and gloves should be worn to protect body parts such as fingers and ears.

Temperatures will return closer to normal mid next week.
