Cold weather looks to hang out for awhile – Packer game forecast looks no better

A polar airmass has descended down across the area and this has plunged temperatures down to 20 degrees in the Fond du Lac area Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024. Highs today won’t improve too much as we struggle to reach 36 degrees which is right about normal for this time of year, however as the cold air continues to descend over the Great Lakes Region, we’ll see temperatures drop even further as the weekend approaches.

A low pressure storm will be moving just south of the area into central Illinois as well as another larger one north in the Hudson Bay area. As we sit sandwiched between these two systems, we should stay for the most part dry, however there is just a slight chance we could see an isolated flurry or two. Nothing that should have any impacts on travel or accumulate to anything.

A high pressure will slowly move southeast out of Canada towards us over the forecast period which looks to keep things dry and quiet for at least the next 7 days. After that, extended models show a series of clipper type systems moving over the area from Canada with quick hits of snow and likely reenforcing the cold air that is over us now.

If you’re headed to the Packer game Thursday, we’re looking at dry conditions with tailgating temperatures around 30 degrees with a 10 mph northwest wind dropping windchills to around 22 degrees.
Kick off temps drop to around 28 with wind chills dropping into the teens as the game ends so make sure you are dressed in layers and stock up on hand warmers.
