Community Resources In Fond du Lac County Come Together During Emergency To Help Injured Man

Several community resources worked together to help a man who was injured while clearing snow from his rural driveway Sunday, December 25, 2022.
Shortly after noon on Christmas Day, a 70-year-old man lost two fingers while trying to clear a plugged snow blower he was using to clear snow from his driveway.
Responding Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies learned the driveway was approximately a 1/4 mile in length and was severely drifted shut so they asked that a county
plow respond to help clear the driveway for rescue personel.
While deputies worked their way to the man on foot, two plow trucks worked at clearing the driveway of snow.
Officers were able to stabilize the victim and after about 15 minutes, Ripon Guardian Ambulance was able to make it up the driveway to reach the man.
While not needed, members of Alto Fire Department were responding with an ATV and a neighbor also came to assist with a snowmobile.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt commended all who came together during adverse weather conditions to help the injured man get to the hospital.
