Convention And Visitors Bureau Sees Growth
Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau President Craig Molitor will be celebrating his 7th anniversary with the CVB in just a few short days. He says in that time their budget has doubled. He says that is because of the new hotels and conference space. He says local businesses have done a great job in the hospitality industry. He says when he started they had a $320,000 budget and by the end of the year their budget will be over $700,000. He says the Holiday Inn Express, new conference center, Hampton Inn, and redevelopment of the Hotel Retlaw have all impacted or will impact visitor stays. Molitor says in fact according to the Wisconsin Tourism Department visitor spending in Fond du Lac County last year grew by 6.7 percent. He says for the second straight year that was tops among the state’s 72 counties.
