Crash On Hwy. 26 Sends Ohio Man To Hospital
An Ohio man was seriously injured Friday morning after the semi-truck he was operating left the road and struck a tree.
The accident occurred Friday December 10,2021 at 8:42 am, with the Fond du Lac County Communication Center receiving numerous calls about a semi-tractor trailer involved in traffic crash on STH 26 south of Neitman Rd in the Town of Waupun.
Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers, Waupun Fire Department and Life Star Ambulance, arrived on scene and located a semi-tractor trailer in the east ditch of STH 26.
Initial investigation shows that the semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound on STH 26, when it left the road and struck a tree. The semi-tractor sustained total damage due to the impact with the tree. The engine compartment became separated from the cab of the semi and there was extensive damage to tractor parts that were damaged from the fire. Several citizens also assisted with fire extinguishers.
The operator of the semi is a 47-year-old male from Toledo Ohio who was transported from the scene by Life Star Ambulance to Theda Care Regional Medical Center- Neenah with serious injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Also assisting at the scene was Rosendale Police Department and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department to help detour traffic. Traffic on STH 26 between STH 23 and USH 151 was detoured for approximately 3 hours.
The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
