Crowds overflow NFL Draft campus sending fans scrambling to see what they can on tv screens

The first day of the 2025 NFL draft in Green Bay is in the books and it was a crowded one. Officially 205,000 people were on hand to watch the first round of picks but there was only room for 125,000 in the viewing area of the stage. This sent thousands of people scrambling to find an alternate means to watch the picks just minutes before first round pics started. Many chose tv screens scattered throughout the draft campus, but most filed into historic Lambeau field to watch the draft on the jumbo screen.

The Packers selected Matthew Golden, a wide receiver from the University of Texas, with the No. 23 overall pick. This marks the first time the Packers have selected a wide receiver in the first round since 2002 when they selected Javon Walker from Florida State.

Golden caught 58 passes for 987 yards and nine TDs last season at Texas after transferring from Houston.

Day 2 of the NFL Draft kicks off at 6 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 25, 2025, with the venue and campus at next to Lambeau opening up at noon. Today will consist of rounds two and three of picks with rounds 4-7 taking place on Saturday.
