Damage survey reveals 4th tornado touched down in northeast Wisconsin May 21st

The National Weather Service in Green Bay has determined that a 4th tornado had touched down in northeast Wisconsin during storms last week.

Storms that raked through the area on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 were determined to have touched down tornadoes in Marathon and Outagamie counties, but a closer look at the damage on Washington Island in Door County has led weather service employees to say the damage was consistent with what a tornado would do.

According to the Storm Prediction Center’s storm reports page, at 10:35 PM, amateur radio operators on the island reported trees and wires down blocking roads and some buildings also sustaining damage. According to the damage survey, it was determined that the tornado was on the ground for 2 1/4 miles with wind speeds of about 90 miles per hour.
