Daylight saving time this weekend – “Spring forward” one hour Sunday morning

Daylight saving time starts Sunday morning, March 9, 2025, when we set our clocks forward one hour, gaining an extra hour of daylight in the evening for the spring and summer months, but losing
an hour of sleep Sunday morning.

Daylight saving time lasts 240 days and has been observed for 116 years. It’s been talked about being eliminated in recent years as no one really seems to like it, but with federal legislation stuck in a holding pattern, this has not happened. However individual states could take up the issue, but they’re still subject to some federal limitations. The Uniform Time Act, which was passed in 1966, says that states can enact permanent standard time but not permanent daylight saving time.

Hawaii and Arizona are the only two states that do not observe daylight saving time.
