Deer With Chronic Wasting Disease Found In Winnebago County

A deer found sick in Winnebago County has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease according to the Wisconsin DNR.

The three-year old fawn was captured by a sheriff’s deputy this spring after area residents reported the animal appeared ill.

The deer was located near Rush Lake north of Ripon.

The discovery extends a ban on baiting and feeding of deer for another three years in Winnebago County and also extends the same bans in Fond du Lac, Waushara,
and Green Lake counties for another two years.

The DNR will host a public information session on Chronic Wasting Disease next Tuesday at the Omro Town Hall.
