Despite warm weather, winter parking restrictions go into effect this week

Even though Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be wanting to start winter weather anytime soon, the City of Fond du Lac’s winter parking rules will go into affect later this week.

Starting on Friday November 15th, any vehicle being parked on a city street after 8 PM, must be on the side of the street where the addresses correspond to the date, meaning that if the date at 8 PM is even, then you will need to park on the even addressed side of the street, and if its an odd numbered day, you need to park on the odd numbered side of the street.

This policy overrides all other on-street parking restrictions in place on any street where parking is allowed, so if there are signs that say no parking this side of the street, but there is usually parking allowed on the other side, the no parking signs are void during winter parking times. The winter parking ends at 8 AM each day and regular parking rules then go back into effect. Winter parking rules will run through March 15th.

In the City of Waupun, things are a little different. There, regular nightly parking rules remain in effect for parking, unless there is a measurable snowfall of two inches or more at the city’s public safety building. If that occurs, parking is restricted on ALL city streets and alleys from 2AM to 6AM for 48 hours after the snowfall ends. This will allow city crews time to remove any snow from city streets.
