DHS Secretary Says Election-Day Spike of COVID-19 Minimal

Three weeks after Wisconsin residents cast in-person ballots, there’s been no spike in COVID-19 cases directly attributable to Election Day. DHS Secretary Andrea Palm says 52 people tested positive.

“As we’ve said all along, their exposure may have been from something else they did that day. But as we’ve been tracking this and folks have been answering this question, these 52 folks have indicated either they were a poll worker or voted in-person on election day.”

In a statement, Wisconsin Republican Party Executive Director Mark Jefferson  accused state Democrats and numerous media outlets of “eagerly” predicting “a massive spike, with gruesome hopes on capitalizing politically.”
