DMV opening 30 day comment period for those opposed to new specialty plates
The Wisconsin DMV says a 30-day public comment period is now open as they review applications from two organizations requesting new specialty license plates:
The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and The Wisconsin FFA Foundation are both looking to add to the number of specialty plates in the state.
If approved, each plate would require an additional $25 donation for the organization over the annual registration fee for a Wisconsin license plate. The fee would be collected at issuance and at the time of annual registration renewal to support the organization’s overall charitable contributions.
The public can review each application submitted to become a special group plate, and submit an objection if they do not approve of the plate. All objections are passed to the legislative Transportation Committee for final decision on the plate’s status.
To view the special group license plate applications, visit wisconsindmv.gov/specialgroupreview. The applications are available for public comment through June 5.
Wisconsin currently has 70 specialty plates currently offered.
