DNR Calls Of Wolf Hunt…For Now
The Wisconsin DNR is calling off the fall wolf hunt, for now.
In a press release on Wednesday, the Department of Natural Resources says that licenses have not been issued to state hunters and trappers for the Fall hunt, because of a court ruling blocking it.
The agency says it will continue to work on a wolf management plan to guide decisions into the future. Last winter’s hunt was forced by a lawsuit from conservative hunting group Hunter Nation, and the wolf hunt itself has been a sticking point in a continued battle over the makeup of the Natural Resources Board.
