DNR Confirms Timber Wolf Found In Dodge County

DNR officials have confirmed that it was a timber wolf that was found on the side of a Dodge County road back on September 16. Local fox and coyote hunters have seen wolves on occasion over the past few years in Dodge County. On the morning of September 16, Richard Karow was driving with his dad, when he saw a large object lying on the shoulder of Hwy. 151, just north of Hwy. S. Karow could not stop at the time, so he phoned a hunting friend and asked him to check it out. Robert Niehoff drove over to the location and did find a 90 pound male wolf. Niehoff called the Horicon DNR office, and a DNR officer picked up the carcass, and confirmed it was a wolf.
