DNR Data Shows Hunting License Sales Nearly the Same as 2018

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it has
sold roughly the same number of deer hunting licenses as this time last year.
Data released by the DNR on Tuesday shows the department had sold 538,643
licenses as of Sunday. That compares with 539,137 licenses as of the same date
in 2018 – a difference of 494 licenses.

The total includes gun, bow, crossbow, sports and patron
licenses. The data also shows an increase in the number of children under nine-year-old
who hold a license. The DNR reports over 3,600 kids under age nine have a
license this year, compared with over 2,200 at this time last year.

The DNR also says the number of licenses that allow hunters
to kill deer with guns has dropped by just over 1,300 licenses. The department
had sold 313,293 licenses as of Tuesday compared to 314,645 at this time last
year.
