Dog likely killed in house fire

Authorities in Oshkosh say a dog is presumed to be dead following a fire at a home there Sunday night, January 18, 2026.

The Oshkosh fire and police department responded around 6:45 p.m. for reports of a fire at a house in the 900 block of West 10th Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews found flames visible from all four sides of the two-story, wood-framed house.

According to a press release from police, None of the residents were home at the time of the fire, however, the family’s dog is unaccounted for and is presumed to have died in the blaze.
